From their Statement of Vision: “Ghost Ranch is called to be…an open place for body, mind and spirit…a place to wonder, to challenge, to create, to explore…”

BASIC INFORMATION

7 Days/6 Nights at Ghost Ranch Retreat Center, Abiquiu, New Mexico

Daily workshops, slide presentations and demos by Darla Bostick, who has been an art instructor for 35 years.
We will experiment with different methods of capturing your images and impressions using photography and journaling ~ then using those images to create truly unique pieces of art which combine several media in drawing and painting (watercolor, acrylic, pencil, pastel, inks and more). Although Darla works primarily in watercolor, artists are encouraged to bring what materials they wish to use.

FIELD TRIP: GEORGIA O’KEEFFE LANDSCAPE TOUR

FEES:

The workshop fee is $445 for participants.

Have a non-artist spouse or friend who wants to come? Of course they are welcome to come and spend their day at their own leisure. They are invited to join us for our meet-and-greet reception, our evenings in the New Arts Buildings, at all mealtimes and for the Georgia O’Keeffe Landscape Tour.

SUPPLIES:  2010 SUPPLY LIST

A tip for non-watercolor painters: Order your canvases online (ASW will ship for a very small amount) and have them sent to Ghost Ranch under your name along with “Bostick Art Group” on the label. At the close of the workshop, have them shipped home via Fed Ex. Be sure to bring a shipping label with you and check to make sure it can be done. Last year one of our artists did this and it worked fine (but she had a Fed Ex account, so be sure it will work without an account!).

For printing your photographs during the week: Darla has a portable printer for our use! Snag your images when we are out and about on the Ghost Ranch grounds, then print in our group room same day. You can paint from your images if you wish the convenience of our group activity room!

ROOM & BOARD:  LODGING

There are many options for lodging at Ghost Ranch. You have the freedom to choose which room style fits your budget. Lodging includes breakfast, lunch and dinner ~ all cooked and served at the Ghost Ranch Dining Hall. Vegetarian meals are also available.

Types of Rooms: See the Lodging Information for photos and descriptions. For 7 days/6 nights rates vary from $55/day per person dual occupancy. Single rooms are also available. Be sure to note something new this year! If you wish to volunteer one morning at Ghost Ranch, they will give you 50% off your lodging for that night.  For those not interested, they can paint, hike, explore during that time!

Should you require assistance, golf carts are available for rental on the property for a minimum fee.

NOTE: Every evening the group activity room will be open for working on projects and/ or for socializing with the group.

REGISTRATION - DOWNLOAD REGISTRATION FORM

The workshop has limited space in order to keep our group small (so each artist will have their own work table space). Feel free to download any of the workshop information documents. Registration forms should be filled out and mailed to Darla.

Payments are explained on the registration form.  All expenses for lodging and meals are direct costs per Ghost Ranch standard rates.  To secure our group activity room, all reservations must be made through Darla as the organizer of this workshop/retreat.

We are too far from Santa Fe to take advantage of the sights, foods and  shopping available there during our workshop days. Darla will be arriving in Santa Fe the night before our Ghost Ranch reservations begin. If you wish to come a day early and take in the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum and perhaps eat a bite or two on Monday evening, let Darla know. Group rates to the museum are available if there is a demand. Also, last year Darla arranged for a discount at the best art supply in town for our group…in case you forgot something!  [The Luxury Inn has some of the best rates, is clean and offers a complementary breakfast buffet—it’s not fancy but it’s convenient and affordable. Again, Darla can make arrangements for you.]
