Coastal Spain and Barcelona Art Adventure May 2015

My dream of art adventures abroad came true with a group of 8 (from TX, NY and Australia). We began our adventure on the Spanish coast where we stayed in a villa for a week followed by a quick flight to Barcelona where we spent a week in the city of mosaics! During our coastal week we visited the Rock of Gibraltar, Ronda (of bullfighting fame), Malaga for the Picasso Museum, Benalmedina to enter the only stupha in Europe, Fuengirola for a seaside lunch, Cordoba's cathedral and castle gardens and the incredible Alhambra Palace of Granada on a private tour.

The second week found us on a plane headed to Barcelona...the city  of mosaics! Our apartment had sleeping quarters for 14 so we were quite comfortable and centrally located.  We had two days on the Hop On Hop Off double decker bus with the freedom to choose where we  spent our time. As a group we visited Parc Guell overlooking the city below, the Sagrada Familia (Antonio Gaudi's masterpiece cathedral still in the making after more than a century), even a flea market for valuable finds. On the last night we ate together at an incredible OLD family restaurant. We walked the Las Ramblas, saw the Palau Musica (Music Palace), the Bouceria (most unbelievable food market in Europe!), Cathedral, the old Palace, parks, pavillions, museums...and we took time out to eat paella and sip sangria--it wouldn't be a trip to Spain without those!
