France 2019

What can you do with 10 glorious days in Southern France? Nine of us stayed in the Perigord area of France where the Dordogne and Lot Rivers run through lovely countryside with steep cliffs, castles, churches and caves. Our trip included walking the cobblestone streets and cemetery of Baynac, riverside picnics, viewing the recreated Lascaux Cave, going into the still-open Grottes Cougnac cave, shopping the quaint shops and church of Saint Cirq Lapopie high bove the Lot River, walking along the cliff side village of Laroque Gageac with its flowers, walking through and around the Chateau Castlenaud, viewing a beautiful overlook in Domme, the Saturday market at Sarlat, Gourdon's medieval gate and streets, the pilgrimage trail in Rocamadour, the labyrinth boardwalks threading over the lily gardens at Jardin l'eau, and floating in a boat through the underground caverns and waters of Gouffre de Padirac! We journaled all our adventures and enjoyed our private art studio available to us at the retreat grounds. We will absolutely have to return to Perigord Retreats in the future~
